It's January 2nd and we are almost done with Cowboy's Daughter so we can get back out there and start playing again. I cant wait!!!!!!!!!
The new record has taken far longer than we thought it might. Earlier in 2007, for the first time ever, I lost my voice and had to go on vocal rest for two months. By the time I was well, it was time to get ready for our festival tour of Italy. Most of the tracking was done and basically all that was left was vocals and instrumental overdubs. Well, we got back and went to work and it is now just a matter of getting a few folks schedules coordinated and we are finished.
Such a great collection of friends have gathered for this one. As well as my great band - Doug Hudson (acoustic guitar, mandolin, and vocals), Alex Adinolfi (acoustic and electric lead guitar), and Merel Bregante (drums, percussion, and vocals)- this album will feature some very dear friends. Joining us on acoustic and electric bass guitar will be the great Lynn Daniel. On violin will be Al Garth (Loggins and Messina, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and The Eagles) and, Gene Elders (George Strait and Lyle Lovett). On rhythm and lead acoustic guitar, Maurizio Fassino...my 'brother' and band leader in Italy. As well, I am so honored to have the amazing 'Queen of Rock-A-Billy', Rosie Flores (electic guitar and vocals). As always, on 'keyboards from heaven,' Riley Osborne. My dear old friend...and mentor...John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) appears on banjo and assorted other 'String Wizardly' things. Cody and Willy Braun (Reckless Kelly) on background vocals on Willy's beautiful 'What Would You Do.' And on masterful dobro, Weisenborn lap guitar, and lap steel, the incredible Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Ryan Adams, Asleep At The Wheel). I feel so very blessed to have these people be both a part of my life as well as my new recording.
Once Cowboy's Daughter is completed, my plan is to immediately get back to performing regionally. I expect this to be somewhere around February 1st. I will keep this page current with any gigs as they are booked so be sure to check back often.
For now, know that I appreciate all your support and can't wait to get back out there.
Love,

Sound check on the afternoon of July, 15th, 2007. In the distance is the Adriatic Sea. I was standing in a window on the second floor of the castle looking down on the boys at work.
